About Bishop Reginald Blackmon
Bishop Reginald Blackmon was born and raised in Chicago, Ill., where he lived until joining the U.S. Navy. After joining the U.S. Navy, he was stationed in San Diego, CA and soon after began his boxing career. During his amateur boxing career he won many fights and held several titles including the three times All Navy Super Heavy-Weight Boxing Champion, two times Armed Forces Champion and he was the 1993 Olympic Festival Gold Medalist and 1993 U.S. Bronze Medalist.
While serving in the U.S. Navy, Bishop had an encounter with God that resulted in him committing his life to God and becoming a follower of Jesus Christ. A couple of years later he met his wife to be, Yusanda Blackmon. He continued boxing after completing his tour of duty and went on to box professionally for 2 years. Though his boxing career was going successful, Bishop would later answer the call to ministry. In 1993 he was ordained a minister under the pastoral leadership of Dr. James Harrison and Bishop Gregory Carson. He was ordained for the pastorate by Bishop Gregory Carson and released by his Senior Pastor, Larry O Patterson in early April of 1998.
In May of 1998 Bishop and his wife Pastor Yusanda founded Latter Rain Missions and Training Center and Latter Rain Ministries in the city of Imperial Beach, CA. The call of God on his life was soon made evident when Latter Rain Ministries became the first successful church plant in over forty years in the City of Imperial Beach. This was also made unmistakably clear as they began to partner with the City of Imperial Beach on many civic projects and serving on numerous committees and boards changing lives throughout the city. This work continues in the city of Imperial Beach to date.
Bishop Blackmon was installed as the Presiding Bishop of the Latter Rain Ministry Ministerial Association in May 2009 by an assembled Presbytery under the direction of Bishop Charles Gibson. In obedience to the apostolic call to break open new territories, he then led a plant team to Fort Wayne, IN to plant the second ministry location in the summer of 2009 where he continues to oversee the organization and as well as serve as the Senior Pastor of Latter Rain Ministries Fort Wayne.
Bishop Blackmon has traveled nationally and internationally preaching the gospel of the Kingdom of God with miracles, signs and wonders, healings and changed lives by the power of the Holy Ghost following. With a unique, radical and relatable style of preaching that transcends generational boundaries Bishop Blackmon shares revelation and wisdom that causes believers to fall in love with Christ and further devote their lives to the building of His Kingdom. The fathering anointing that rests on him has enabled him to raise many sons and daughter in the faith, releasing them into their own destinies. This is truly obedience to and manifestation of Matthew 28:19; making disciples that will make disciples.
